Elie Engo - Cameroon: Earning money with dignity

Since a heavy malaria at the age of two, Elie Engo (34) is paralyzed, his left leg is fully strengthless. Walking on crutches, he spends 8 hours a day at Douala airport, offering his hand painted greeting cards to waiting passengers.

Elie is an artist, and a fighter, because he does not let his handicap get him down. „My motto is: no to begging, yes to working“, he says.

His dream: finding regular buyers (he can paint up to 500 cards per month), and he would like to exhibit one day in a German town.

We should give him these chances, he deserves it!
